Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime location, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel building that highlights a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
