Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are apparently required to cross, there are means around this, as is real of most borders.

The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel building that contains a number of comforts in addition to the gambling den, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and 88 tables.
