Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not legal. Eight gambling dens are established in a generally small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; still, financing sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of many border crossings.
The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau casino, features one hundred and fifty slots and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel building that contains a number of comforts accompanying the gambling den, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
